The first commercial Curated Catastrophe!

We overhauled the existing concept of a boutique-office and created an out-of-the box space that has been designed as an antidote to restrictions in thinking posed by one’s surroundings. For example the office room you sit in day in, day out: This environment greatly affects and influences the way you think – and familiar environments make us think in familiar, scripted ways, further hindering development of a thought or solution. The whole Top of the Lake space is designed to maximize people’s creative brainpower. We created an environment which stimulates senses, activates and engages the brain in an effortless manner. To do so, we had to turn the whole place upside down – a perfect job for the Curated Catastrophe Service!

The floors got covered with tons of sand, several cubic metres of wood chip, fresh grass or stones, changing seasonally. The bathroom underwent first a jungle, later a major mud-session. We installed lots of burnt wood, bamboo and plants in the space and a sauna on the balcony.

Top of the Lake was an ever growing and changing long-term project. We started in early summer 2016 with season one, proceeded in winter 2016/17 with season two and ended in 2018 with a final change of the space.
We developed workshop content, games, interior interventions and objects.
